7-foot dead termite riding on a hearse tells termites to hit the road this spring
INDIANAPOLIS - A danger is lurking for homeowners. Only those who have already faced it are passionate about stopping it from happening again. But millions of homeowners who don’t think it’ll happen to them are at risk. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to the danger of termites.
Beginning March 16 during National Pest Management Association’s (NPMA) Termite Awareness Week, the Sentricon® System Deader Than Dead Tour will travel across 12 states to get the word out that homeowners don’t have to live with the threat of termites or the billions of dollars of damage they cause each year. NPMA estimates termite damage costs U.S. homeowners $5 billion each year, so the Sentricon system team is hitting the road to make sure all homeowners are aware and can be prepared.
Deader Than Dead Tour
The five-week Sentricon Deader Than Dead Tour will educate homeowners on the importance of preventative termite control and the value the Sentricon system provides. Featuring the “Coroner’s Caddy” — a 17-foot hearse outfitted with a 7-foot dead termite replica on its roof — the tour will visit six cities during peak termite swarm season.
The Deader Than Dead Tour makes its fifth stop at American Pest Management Inc. in Manhattan, Kansas. Open since 1979, American Pest Management offers more than 216 years of combined experience. Along with protecting homes and businesses from pests, American Pest Management is involved in the community by visiting local elementary schools to educate students on common insects. Children also can join the Junior Pest Technician program online to gain access to activities, crafts and exclusive events.
“We love sharing our passion for entomology and fueling kids’ curiosity about common insects and bugs,” says Ravi Sachdeva, CEO, American Pest Management. “Whether about good or bad bugs, our goal is to share our knowledge and excitement about insects and empower children to help keep their family free from pests. That’s why we’re excited about the Sentricon Deader Than Dead Tour. It’s an exciting way to bring attention to the topic, helping educate homeowners about the threats pests can pose and offering prevention tips along the way.”
Other stops for the Deader Than Dead tour include:
- March 16: Cayce, South Carolina (Home Pest Control)
- March 20: Metairie, Louisiana (Terminix Service Company)
- March 22: Mobile, Alabama (Arrow Exterminators)
- March 29: Lubbock, Texas (D’s Pest Control)
- April 10: Cincinnati, Ohio (Scherzinger Pest Control)

The Sentricon® system: a clear solution to the hidden problem
Termites are an invisible problem, and damage is rarely protected by homeowners insurance. More than 4 million homes across the United States have been protected by the Sentricon system, but tens of millions are vulnerable to attack. The best solution for termites is proactive protection and awareness. Homeowners can avoid damage by having an annual inspection done by a professional and preventative termite protection in place.
Using scientific knowledge of termite behavior, the Sentricon® system protects property by eliminating the entire termite colony, including the termite queen. It was designed and developed to stop termites from being able to eat, reproduce or survive. No other product has been as thoroughly proven to be as effective as the Sentricon system, which means it keeps termites out of homes and out of mind.
To be sure you aren’t the victim of termite damage, schedule an inspection with your local pest management company. You can start by finding your local Certified Sentricon Specialist.
