‘Above Ground’ or ‘All Gone?’ ― How Recruit® AG FlexPack™ Became a CSS Staple

Mike Fillion at NC Pest Control in North Carolina shares how he uses Recruit® AG FlexPack™ to treat hard-to-reach spaces and initiate the termite feeding process that begins the process of colony elimination virtually immediately.

The AG in Recruit® AG FlexPack™ termite bait stands for “above-ground,” but for Certified Sentricon Specialists™ like Mike Fillion at NC Pest Control in North Carolina, it may as well stand for “all gone.” Recruit AG FlexPack bait stations, which use the same proven active ingredient as the Sentricon® system in-ground bait stations to treat hard-to-reach spaces, initiate the termite feeding process that begins the process of colony elimination virtually immediately.

Treating tight spaces

“Immediately” is especially important when addressing a crawl space teeming with termite mud tubes. Such was the case when Fillion treated a home crawl space overrun by an active infestation. During his inspection of the crawl space, Fillion found conditions that were ideal for termites: dark, moist and protected from tampering or interference. “Termite tubes were hanging down all over the place,” Fillion said. “It was like a termite superhighway.” Fillion’s team knew that unless total colony elimination was achieved, further structural damage to the home would be inevitable.

A ‘last supper’ for termites

Because of the hard-to-reach location of the crawl space, Fillion relied on Recruit AG FlexPack stations. The team installed seven above-ground (AG) stations in the crawl space, six in-ground bait stations and one in-ground station in the garage nearby. AG stations were mounted on crawl space walls directly between mud tube junctions at 3½-foot intervals, forcing termites to travel through them to feed on the bait.

“We gave them a last supper,” Fillion said. As soon as AG stations were introduced, the colony began the feeding process — just as Fillion had hoped. Within 15 days, termites had heavily fed on the AG stations, which led to complete colony elimination in a matter of weeks.

All gone with AG

“When I started my company four years ago, I knew I wanted to use the Sentricon system and Recruit AG FlexPack,” Fillion said. “I’d used it before at the previous company I worked with, and I loved it.” Fillion once relied on the previous AG system, which proved effective in many difficult infestation scenarios. But he says he is thankful for the current system, which offers an additional level of flexibility.

“In North Carolina, 70% to 80% of the homes we treat have crawl spaces,” Fillion said. “We appreciate the added versatility that Recruit AG FlexPack stations provide.” By using AG stations and the Sentricon system, Fillion’s team members are prepared to treat every home they encounter — crawl space or no crawl space.

“We don’t go out there as salespeople. We go out and solve the problem as professionals,” Fillion said. With Recruit® AG FlexPack™ termite bait, Fillion is sure to solve the problems of many homeowners to come.
